Washington Township Little League

Rules

Play at Washington Township Little League is governed by rules published by Little League International.  WTLL provides rule books to team managers and umpires.  You can also purchase a rule book from Little League.

Most Little League rules mirror Official Baseball Rules, which can be downloaded for free.

Key differences include:
  • The top of the strikezone is the the armpits.
  • Runners must maintain contact with their base until the pitch reaches the batter (closed bases) (Major and below)
  • Headfirst slides while advancing are illegal (Major and below)
  • Any runner is out when the runner does not slide or attempt to get around a fielder who has the ball and is waiting to make the tag.
  • Pitchers are subject to pitch count limitations.

Note that there is no "Must Slide" rule.

In addition, Washington Township Little League has some local baseball rules and local softball rules.
